Crypto environment – 4th Erste security conference

In organization of Erste Banka Srbija we gathered on the 4th Erste security conference. Our vice president Ms Sanja Ugrčić Pavlović, CFE had outstanding presentation on “Crypto environment”.

Sanja’s lecturer made crypto closer to our understanding encouraging us to approach new asset with no fear but being fraud aware.

Here in Serbia it is highly regulated industry. Crypto is the asset like all other asset. It is used for payments.

And it is the subject of misuse like other means of payment (cash, cards).

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) published the Report to the nations 2024 where global research shows that only 4% of all occupational fraud relates to cryptocurrency. In almost 50% of this cases fraudsters transferred stolen asset into crypto currency and in 33% cases crypto currency was used for bribery and corruption.

• investment scams
• rug pulls
• Ponzi schemes (oldie but goldie)
• phishing attacks
• romance scams
• ransomware
• address poisoning (newly one)
